Overview of the Chardham Yatra:

The Char Dham Yatra is open only during a specific time of the year, roughly starting from mid-April and early May and ending somewhere around early winters in November. Every year Lakhs of Hindus visit this holy land between April to November. However, this area’s journey during the monsoon becomes quite tricky due to its mountainous terrain and slippery routes. The Charon Dham ki yatra is considered an auspicious site for Hindus. They believe that the Charo Dham Yatra helps wash away all the sins and helps them achieve moksha as it releases them for the never-ending cycle of rebirth and death.

4 Dham yatra Routs:

The journey for Char Dham darshan is not very easy. The Char Dham pilgrimage benefits from visiting the two temples Gangotri and Badrinath, with ease as they can be reached via vehicle. However, the other two temples, Yamunotri and Kedarnath, need a rigorous trek. If you plan to complete visiting every temple on the Char Dham temples list, Kedarnath will be the lengthiest. On average, it takes about ten to twelve days to complete the Char Dham ki yatra. However, it comes down to two days to choose to do the Chardham yatra. You can connect with us to know more about our Char Dham yatra package cost.

The pilgrims must take a compulsory medical check-up as a safety measure, especially if planning to visit the Kedarnath temple. Apart from that, the pilgrims are required to undergo a complete biometric registration, available online and offline. Furthermore, as a safety measure, a proper weather report is also offered to the pilgrims going on the Chardham yatra 2022, along with separate telecommunication coverage, medical facilities, and direct contact with the contact room.

The 4 Divine Chardham Temples:

Before setting out on your yatra, it is better to have a brief idea about the Char Dham Temples. If you’re choosing our 4 Dham yatra package, our crew will guide you throughout.

These ancient temples, BadrinathKedarnathGangotri, and Yamunotri mark the four great holy rivers of our country:

  • The Yamuna, which originates in the Yamunotri glacier.
  • Ganga, which originates at the Gangotri glacier.
  • River Mandakini originates at Kedarnath.
  • River Alaknanda originates at Badrinath

Here is a complete Char Dham temples list:

  • Badrinath: The Badrinath temple is considered the most easily accessible temple of the Char Dham, making it the most popular. Dedicated to Lord Vishnu, the temple is surrounded by the untidy village on all sides, overshadowed by the snow-capped Nilkantha peak. The priests usually decide the temple’s opening date on Vasanta Panchami, while the closing date is fixed on Dussehra. In most cases, the temple stays open for about ten days during Diwali too.
  • Yamunotri: The trek starts from Janki Chatti, located 225 kilometers from Rishikesh. The Yamunotri temple is located quite close to the source of the Yamuna River. It is the second holiest river in India, which flows down past the Taj Mahal. The temple is small and surrounded by thick forest. This temple is least visited among other Char Dham Temples. However, the scenic beauty you can experience in this beautiful land makes the journey worthwhile. Just like the Gangotri temple, the Yamunotri temple opens on Akshaya Tritiya and closes during Diwali. The Goddess is carried from the Kharsali Village, which is considered Yamuna’s mother on opening, after which it is returned once the temple closes.
  • Kedarnath: The trek starts from Gaurikund, 207 kilometers from Rishikesh. It is the most remote temple of Char Dham. Though the Kedarnath temple requires a lot of effort to get to, it still attracts more than 300,000 pilgrims every year. It is considered the seat of Lord Shiva, one of the most important 12 Jyotirlingas in India. It is the largest and most magnificent temple in the Himalayas. Situated high up in Lord Shiva’s territory, it occupies a glacial terrace leftover from a long-ago melted glacier in the Mandakini Valley. The date of opening is decided on Maha Shivaratri, and the temple closes on Diwali.
  • Gangotri Temple: A very simple shrine is present in the Gangotri temple, which has an extraordinary significance for the pilgrims. Worshipped as Goddess Ganga, the shrine is considered the holiest place in India as it is closely related to the spiritual source of the River Ganga. The temple is located in uneven terrain amidst mountains and forests. It attracts around 300,000 pilgrims every year who look forward to being a part of the evening aarti at 8 p.m. The temple opens on Akshay Tritiya, which usually falls in the last week of April or the first week of May. The event is marked with a colorful procession, the shrine’s journey from its winter home.

Char Dham Yatra from Uttarakhand:

The Char Dham yatra Uttarakhand is the most religious, respected, famous, and the most undertaken in India. Several lakhs of devotees opt for this Char Dham pilgrimage and perform it religiously every year. The Hindus of the country believe that visiting all the four Dhams or the ‘abodes of god’ will get them salvation. The four sites included in the Char Dham darshan are Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath. All of these are a part of Uttarakhand.

Here, it is essential to mention that the traditional 4 Dham yatra in Uttarakhand are different for two reasons. While the conventional Char Dham yatra includes Badrinath, Puri, Rameswaram, and Dwarka, Uttarakhand Char Dham Yatra covers Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath – the pious Dhams in Uttarakhand only. The traditional Chardham Yatra dates to the 8th Century (attributed to Adi Guru Shankaracharya), while the Uttarakhand char Dham name was started by locals of Uttarakhand in the 1900s. The trip begins and ends at Haridwar. The Uttarakhand char Dham yatra is a beautiful amalgamation of a spiritual and natural tour. While you get to visit the famous Char Dham temple and other places of worship, you also get to enjoy the most scenic locations en route. It is an ultimate opportunity to experience nature closely and learn about several local cultures and several mythological facts that have strong roots in the Hindu religion.
